Since 2003, the MagkaSama Project has grown alongside a community of partners who share our commitment to human rights and social justice. Our collaborations have taken many forms, including the 2008 60 Signers Initiative marking the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, co-hosted events, joint statements, and joint advocacy campaigns.
We are always open to meaningful partnerships. If you are interested in co-developing campaigns, organizing events, contributing research, or supporting advocacy efforts, we welcome the opportunity to connect. Whether you represent an organization or wish to contribute as an individual volunteer, advocate, or sponsor, we would be glad to connect. Reach out through our contact page to explore how we can work together.
One example of this collaboration is our long-standing engagement with Dr. Tom Catena and the Nuba Mountains community
Since 2003, when our founder Max Dana launched a newsletter documenting the unfolding genocide in Darfur, our organization has remained committed to Sudan, with a particular focus on the Nuba Mountains.
The Nuba people continue to endure aerial bombings, displacement, and limited access to medical care in one of the world’s most isolated conflict zones. Dr. Tom Catena serves as the only full-time physician for nearly one million people. At Mother of Mercy Hospital, he works as surgeon, obstetrician-gynecologist, and pediatrician often while airstrikes continue nearby.
In 2017, Dr. Catena received the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity for his service. To highlight his work and the ongoing crisis in the Nuba Mountains, we organized a screening of the documentary The Heart of Nuba (2016) at Paris’s Hôtel de Ville. Director Kenneth A. Carlson joined us for a discussion alongside human rights experts and NGO representatives, including Human Rights Watch.
